impact
At Mishwara are committed to making an impact. 10% of the profits are donated to the Women’s Association for Combating Poverty and Illiteracy in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Established in 1999, they are committed to providing educational programs, advocacy, and community support to empower women. The WACPI aims to break cycles of poverty through literacy and economic opportunities. You can make a direct donation below. Thank you for joining us in making an impact.

In June 2025, we had the opportunity to visit the WAGPI and make the first donation in Tevragh Zeina.
The organization is dedicated to advancing literacy among women in Mauritania, with a strong focus on enhancing cultural and civic awareness. They strengthen teaching quality and improve learning resources in literacy centers and schools.
Beyond education, the organization actively works to alleviate poverty by promoting small-scale, income-generating projects designed to foster economic independence and community development. Through the WAGPI, vocational training is provided in various fields such as sewing, textiles, carpet weaving, hairdressing, cosmetics, information technology, homemaking, and fabric dyeing. WAGPI also supports small cooperatives, offers direct financial aid, and provides targeted subsidies.
In order to address critical infrastructure challenges, one committee focuses on improving access to clean water. Initiatives include distributing clean water, constructing solar-powered wells, and ensuring sustainable water sources for vulnerable communities. Additionally, the organization delivers food supplies and clothing to the most affected regions.
The WAGPI further prioritizes public health by leading awareness campaigns, offering free medical consultations for women and children, and ensuring access to essential medicines and ready-to-eat meals. These combined efforts reflect a holistic approach to empowering women, reducing poverty, and improving the quality of life across Mauritanian society.
Their values align with our purpose at Mishwara. Jazak Allah for your help in making an impact in Mauritania.
